Hi Sisters! This week for the third hour of the block, we had a combined Priesthood/Relief Society meeting.
Emergency Preparedness Spotlight - Nate H.
Check around your apartment to make sure you have a preparedness kit from the stake. It's a packet of the following papers:
- Ward meeting location (In the field next to the round-about between 14C and 15A)
- Basic first aid information
- Evacuation information
- Earthquake information
- Cards to display in an emergency (NEED HELP, EVERYTHING OK, etc.)
Call Nate if you don't have a packet: 6159
Also have a 72 hour kit, 2 weeks of food storage, water, medication, and baby supplies (BYU does have some food available in an emergency, but they won't be able to provide any meds or baby supplies your family might need).
Have another 72 hour kit, warm blankets, and sweatshirts in the trunk of your car.
Meet the Bishop
Both he and his wife were born in American Fork. They currently live right next door in Highland, but in the meantime, they've lived in Korea, Oklahoma, Indiana, Massachusetts, California, and Germany. Bishop also served a mission in Texas and spent a summer in Alaska.
Both went to BYU. Jolene graduated in elementary education. Bishop graduated in psychology and then received his MBA. He served in the military and worked for Hewlett Packard before getting a job at Church Headquarters in the Information Systems Department.
Jolene enjoys cooking (she's a fabulous cook!), reading, teaching (especially Young Womens), and travel. Bishop enjoys everything: "You name it, I'm interested in it!"
They have five children and six grandchildren.
Lesson from the Bishop - How to find balance in our lives
What are your top three priorities?
Do you feel that you have made progress in the past six months?
How do you judge your progress?
There's no magic formula to help you find balance in your life. There will always be more good things to do in life than there will be time to do them. But God understands you and your situation, and he will help you find balance.
"There is no greater source of happiness than to use the gifts God has given you to benefit others."
